Preparing Your Company Safety Statement ....4 Day Training Course

The Preparing Your Company Safety Statement workshop will take you through a step-by-step approach to developing and implementing an effective health and safety management system. On completing the workshop you will have produced an up-to-date safety statement for your workplace. In addition you will have generated a health and safety action plan.

Course Aims

To enable participants to prepare their workplace safety statement by:

  • Equipping participants with an understanding of the necessary components of an effective health and safety management system.
  • Equipping participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to complete risk assessments.
  • Identifying the required safety arrangements for specific workplace hazards.

Objectives

The objective of the course is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to:

  • Develop an appropriate health and safety policy.
  • Carry out risk assessments.
  • Set objectives given the risks presented by an organisation's activities.
  • Effectively assign specific health and safety responsibilities.
  • Set about ensuring employee competence.
  • Set about ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Identify the requirements for an effective accident control system.
  • Establish the level of emergency preparedness necessary for a workplace.
  • Establish appropriate safety consultation arrangements.
  • Establish effective safety communication.
  • Determine what record keeping is necessary.
  • Determine what written procedures should be in place.
  • Allow the safe use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Measure the effectiveness of their health and safety arrangements.

Who should attend

Employers and employees assigned safety management responsibilities.

Course Format

The course comprising 4 modules will be run over four Tuesdays. Detailed lectures followed by group exercises will be presented in the morning sessions from 8.30 a.m. - 1.30 p.m.

The four-week time span of the course will allow participants to consult with their employees, as the risk assessments are being completed and appropriate safety arrangements identified.

Number of participants

To optimise the benefit to each participant, numbers will be restricted to 6 people and each module will be customised as far as possible to individual training needs.

Fee

The fee for the four-day course is €595 per participant and includes a detailed training manual and light refreshments.
